Sermon Series: Draw Near to God
Have you ever been in a relationship where no matter how hard you try...you just can't get close to someone? Every move you make towards them is countered by them moving away.
These types of relationships are extremely frustrating and unfulfilling.
Our Heavenly Father has a lot of experience with these types of relationships. He drew near to us from the outset. He even sacrificed his own Son to allow us to enter the Holy Place. Yet, time and time again, we run away from his presence due to sin, doubt, and misunderstanding—causing us to miss out on the greatest relationship we could ever have.
God commands us to draw near to his presence
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.”
“Do we love God with all our heart, soul, and mind?”
“And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the midst of the bush and said, Moses, Moses!”
“Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.”
“Holy fear is the origin of enduring wisdom.”
