Sewing Mission Announced at Jim Ned Valley Church of Christ
We are thrilled to announce the beginning of the Sewing Mission here at Jim Ned Church of Christ! This ministry exists to serve God and our community through the gift of sewing. Whether creating handmade quilts, baby blankets, clothing, or other special items, our mission is to share comfort, warmth, and Christ’s love in a practical way.
This ministry was made possible by the generous startup donation from Bennie Mouser. Her vision and kindness have sown the first stitch of what we pray will be a lasting blessing to many.
The Sewing Mission is led by a dedicated team of committee members, each with specific duties to keep the program organized and effective:
Sewing Coordinator - Johnnie Sue Wright
Coordinates scheduling with the Program Lead; assigns sewing machines; handles sewing-related matters with committee members or participants.
Program Lead - Diane Smith
Determines program times/dates (with committee input); schedules members or volunteers for each session.
Outreach & Media - Carly Carpenter
Handles all media announcements, program promotion, and public communication.
4-H Outreach - Katelyn Horner
Works with the Volunteer Scheduler to set times for 4-H members to use the workroom.
Room Preparation - Deb Howland
Checks the room for working outlets, tools, and materials; ensures the workroom is ready for use.
Participant Registration - Joan Hurst
Prepares registration sheets; registers participants; shares participant information with leadership.
Finances - Alice Janoe
Tracks expenditures and program balances; assists participants with machines and answers questions.
Orientation & Inventory - Keri Bogart
Maintains inventory of tools/materials; advises leadership when supplies are low; orients new members to the sewing area.
Devotionals - Glenda Bowden
Schedules devotionals for each session; leads or assigns someone to lead them.
Community Service - Glenda Windham
Coordinates with leadership on dates/media; purchases needed materials and works with the Finance role on funding.
We welcome all skill levels — whether you can sew, cut fabric, organize, or simply encourage others. This is a ministry where everyone can have a hand in serving. We meet weekly on Wednesdays at 11 am.
